Scaffold Tube Fittings

Traditional Scaffold Fittings – Industrial Strength & Speed

The construction industry standard. Traditional scaffold fittings (also called couplers) are the heavy-duty metal clamps used on building sites worldwide. They're incredibly strong, lightning-fast to install, and perfect for projects where raw industrial aesthetic and maximum load capacity are priorities.
Why choose traditional fittings?Maximum strength – proven on construction sites globally
Lightning-fast installation – tighten with a scaffold spanner
Authentic industrial look – raw metal, construction-grade aesthetic
Unbeatable value – budget-friendly for large projects
Proven reliability – used in construction for decades
Traditional fitting types:
  • Single Coupler (STF-01) – Join two tubes at 90° (right angles)
  • Double Coupler (STF-02) – Parallel connection for ledgers and transoms
  • Swivel Coupler (STF-03) – Adjustable angle connections
  • Sleeve Coupler (STF-04) – Join two tubes end-to-end inline
  • Joint Pin Coupler (STF-05) – Internal pin connection for extending tube length
Only compatible with 48.3mm tubes | £2.99 each

These are traditional scaffold fittings, reclaimed straight from our scaffold yard. They're perfect for creating quick and incredibly strong connections between scaffold tubes. There's a reason these are used in construction all over the world.

Scaffold Tube Fittings FAQ's

Scaffold tube fittings (also called couplers) are heavy-duty metal clamps used to connect 48.3mm scaffold tubes together. They're the same fittings used on construction sites worldwide to build scaffolding structures.
Perfect for: Creating strong, fast connections for shelving frames, gym rigs, outdoor structures, industrial furniture, and any project where you need maximum strength and authentic construction-site aesthetic. Lightning-fast to install with a scaffold spanner and incredibly strong – proven in construction for decades.

Each fitting connects tubes in a different way:
Single Coupler (STF-01): Joins two tubes at 90° (right angles) – most common fitting for creating corners and T-junctions.
Double Coupler (STF-02): Connects two tubes running parallel to each other – used for ledgers and transoms.
Swivel Coupler (STF-03): Adjustable angle connection – joins tubes at any angle (not just 90°) for complex designs.
Sleeve Coupler (STF-04): Joins two tubes end-to-end in a straight line – extends tube length with external sleeve.
Joint Pin Coupler (STF-05): Internal pin connection to join two tubes end-to-end – cleaner look than sleeve coupler.
All fittings are £2.99 each and work with 48.3mm scaffold tubes only.

You'll need a scaffold spanner (also called a podger spanner or scaffold wrench) to tighten the bolts on the fittings. Sizem of the spanner is 7/16ths. These are available from many stores or online for around £10-30.
Installation is quick: Position the fitting around the tubes, insert the bolt, and tighten with the scaffold spanner until secure. Takes just seconds per connection once you get the hang of it. Much faster than tube clamps, which is why they're used on construction sites.
Tip: Tighten firmly to ensure a solid, secure connection that won't slip or move under load.

Yes, scaffold fittings are incredibly strong – they're construction-grade and designed to support scaffolding structures with workers and materials. They're actually the fastest and most cost-effective option for heavy-duty projects.
Choose scaffold fittings if:
You want maximum strength for heavy-duty use
You're building large structures and want to save money (£2.99 vs £3.99-£18.99 for tube clamps)
You love the raw industrial construction-site aesthetic
You need fast installation (seconds per connection with a scaffold spanner)
Choose tube clamps if:
You want a clean, modern look with powder-coated finish
You don't have a scaffold spanner (tube clamps use Allen keys)
You need adjustable/reconfigurable structures
You're using 33.7mm tubes (fittings only work with 48.3mm)
Both systems have their own unique use – the choice comes down to aesthetic, tools, and budget.

Our scaffold fittings are reclaimed straight from our scaffold yard – they've been used on construction sites, so they have authentic rustic character with surface marks and wear. This doesn't affect their strength or function – they're just as strong as new fittings.
For outdoor use: Yes, fittings work outdoors, but like scaffold tubes, they're made from steel and will develop surface rust over time. For long-term outdoor projects, we recommend painting or coating both the tubes and fittings for protection (3-5+ years). Surface rust is cosmetic and won't affect structural integrity.
Authentic industrial look: The reclaimed finish gives your project genuine construction-site character that many customers love for industrial-style furniture and structures.
