About Us

Our Story

After years of running a successful scaffolding company (www.cornish-services.co.uk), founder Jack Cornish needed a creative outlet to launch alongside his already thriving business.

With a keen interest in furniture and all things handmade, turning scaffold boards from a functional and essential product to a beautiful, rustic addition to people's homes seemed the logical next step. Having lived and breathed scaffold boards for over 15 years and handled more boards than most of us have had hot dinners, Jack's knowledge of scaffold boards is second to none.

Skip forward a few weeks, after various product trials, extensive market research, and a large demand for the initial prototypes, and in July 2020 The Scaff Shop was born.

What Sets Us Apart

We aim to not only offer a great service as standard, but also a great product that sets us apart from other companies offering reclaimed boards. Scaffold boards almost sell themselves - but once you add our range of finishes (from Japanese Shou Sugi Ban style "scorched wood" to stained "Midnight Blue" boards), then you have a unique, handmade, beautiful product whether it's a wall shelf or part of a coffee table. We also offer monthly limited edition ranges of furniture made by a furniture maker with 30+ years experience.

On top of this, we offer individual boards courier shipped to you and also welcome enquiries for bulk purchases for larger projects such as whole room cladding or flooring.

Meet the Founders

Jack Cornish at The Scaff Shop Frome

Jack Cornish - Founder

The Scaff Shop is Jack's baby. Although having been in the scaffold business his whole working life, his passion for timber and hand-crafted products started in his late teens, making oak candle holders and selling these to local pubs and restaurants. Having run his successful scaffolding company Cornish Services for over 10 years he felt the need for a new challenge in a more creative direction...

Tom Pepper at The Scaff Shop Frome

Tom Pepper - Founder

Tom is the ecommerce boffin of the team. He's known Jack for over 10 years and regularly loses to him on the squash court. Not letting this get in the way of things, he brings a wealth of knowledge from having set up and run his own successful ecommerce business.
