Product Notes and Advice

Introduction

As our items are hand-made and usually reclaimed then we there are various bits of information and advice that is important to give customers before purchasing. We take great pride in providing high quality, carefully selected timber, but it's important to be aware of the differences and characteristics of each of our different items. The purpose of this page is to list all the product advice and notes specific to certain products.

We do not wish to over complicate things, but instead want to make sure you have all the information on a product so that you are selecting the correct one. However, if you are unsure then please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.

General Notes

These notes apply to all products and to generally purchasing on our website.

- The photos are a good representation of what you will receive but each board will be slightly different to the next.
- The colour will also vary according to the screen it is displayed on.
- Many of our items are considered "bespoke" - please see our Returns Policy for further information with regards to cancellations of orders including such items.

Product Specific Notes

Reclaimed Scaffold Boards - Unsanded, Sanded, or Special (including "skinny", "chunky", and battens):

- We suggest ordering samples of any sanded, oiled, or coloured products before ordering, as a physical sample gives a much better indication of finish and texture etc than an online photo does.
- Because these boards are not PSE (planed square edge) or CLS timber, they may have a small amount of twist, cupping or bowing. This is particularly the case with reclaimed boards. Please be prepared to have to prepare the item for certain uses, e.g. where a flat board is required (such as making a shelf), or otherwise please choose our machine sanded option.
- Hand sanded boards will retain any small amount of twist, cupping or bowing and therefore may not be completely flat, as they are not put through a planer or drum sander.
- Machine sanded boards will be flat but will lose some of their original 38mm depth, depending on how much needs to be removed to prepare the item. This can be up to 5mm of depth.
- Despite originally being British Standard grade, once sanded these boards can are no longer considered such and therefore are not suitable for use in any scaffold system. They are intended for furniture and other similar uses only.
- Because the item is a reclaimed natural timber, the product you receive will be slightly different to the photos above, and may have various dents, cracks, and knots.
- We make sure that all of our boards are carefully selected so that they both look great and are structurally sound. They are always free of paint.
- If using boards to make furniture, please make sure the moisture content is suitable at the time of making. It may be necessary to further season the wood depending on the project. For further advice, please get in touch.

New Scaffold Boards (kiln dried and not kiln dried) - Unsanded, Sanded, or Special (including "skinny" and "chunky"):
