Scaffold Board Samples

Scaffold Board Samples – Try Before You Commit

Not sure which scaffold board is right for your project? Our Scaffold Board Samples let you see and feel the timber in real life before placing a larger order.
In this collection you’ll find small sample pieces of our most popular boards:
  • Standard boards – approx. 225mm wide
  • “Narrow” boards – approx. 100mm wide
  • “Chunky” boards – approx. 225mm wide x 63mm thick
Each sample is cut from the same reclaimed and new boards we sell in full lengths, so you can confidently choose the look, thickness and finish that suits your project.

Why order a sample first?

Ordering a sample is ideal if you want to:
  • Check the colour, grain and character of reclaimed vs new boards
  • Compare thickness and weight (especially for chunky boards)
  • See how our sanded and special finishes look up close
  • Match timber to your existing furniture, kitchen, flooring or décor
  • Test finishes (oils, waxes, stains) on a small piece before committing
Many customers order samples when planning kitchen worktops, shelving runs, desks, tables, cladding and larger furniture projects.

What’s included in each sample?

Each product in this collection clearly states whether the sample is:
  • Standard, Narrow or Chunky
  • Reclaimed, New, or both
  • Supplied in a typical finish (e.g. unsanded/sanded/special, depending on the sample type)
Because scaffold boards are a natural product, every piece is unique – but your sample will give you a very good indication of the overall look and feel you can expect from a full order.

Scaffold Board Samples FAQ's

Each sample is a small off‑cut of our real scaffold boards, taken from the same reclaimed and new stock we sell in full lengths.

You’ll receive a short piece of board (size varies slightly by type) that shows the true thickness, width, grain and general character of that range.

Scaffold boards are a natural product, so no two pieces are identical.

However. Your sample will give you a very good indication of:
Overall colour and tone
Typical grain pattern and knots
The finish level (unsanded, sanded, special, etc.)
There will always be some variation from board to board, especially with reclaimed timber, but the sample is a reliable guide to what you can expect.

Standard samples – from boards approx. 225mm wide x 38mm thick
“Narrow” samples – from boards approx. 100mm wide x 38mm thick
“Chunky” samples – from boards approx. 225mm wide x 63mm thick
All three sample types are available in reclaimed and new options, so you can compare both the size and the style that suits your project.

Yes, and we actively recommend it.

Samples are perfect for:
Trying out different oils, waxes or stains
Seeing how the timber looks in your own lighting
Checking how easy it is to sand and work the wood
Just bear in mind that once you’ve applied finishes or altered the sample, it can’t be returned.

Because samples are low‑cost, cut‑to‑order pieces, they’re generally non‑refundable unless there’s a fault or we’ve made a mistake with your order.

If you have any issues with a sample you’ve received, just email us at hello@thescaffshop.com and we’ll be happy to help.
