Standard furniture heights are:
Coffee Table: 40-45cm total height
Use 10cm, 20cm, or 25cm hairpin legs (depending on your top thickness)
Use 40cm industrial box section legs
Standard coffee table tops are 38mm thick, so 40cm legs give you a 43.8cm total height
Desk or Dining Table: 71-76cm total height
Use 71cm (28") hairpin legs for standard height (most popular)
Use 71cm industrial box section legs
With a 38mm thick top, 71cm legs give you a comfortable 74.8cm total height
Bar or Counter Table: 86-105cm total height
Use 86cm (34") or 102cm (40") hairpin legs
Ideal for breakfast bars, standing desks, or pub-style tables

It depends on your table size and how much weight it will support:
Hairpin legs (71cm/28") are suitable for:
Tables up to 120cm (4ft) long
Tops made from 1-2 scaffold boards (225-440mm wide)
Standard dining use with plates, glasses, and light serving dishes
Desks with computers, monitors, and office equipment
Maximum recommended load: 50-75kg evenly distributed
Industrial box section legs are recommended for:
Tables 150cm (5ft) or longer
Wide tops made from 3+ scaffold boards or jointed boards (600mm+ wide)
Heavy-duty use (large family dinners, commercial settings, workshops)
Outdoor tables exposed to weather and movement
Maximum load capacity: 150-200kg+ per leg frame
The rule of thumb: If your table is longer than 120cm or you're using 3+ boards for the width, go with industrial box section legs for proper support and long-term stability. Hairpin legs are perfect for smaller, lighter tables and desks.

All five industrial leg styles use the same heavy-duty 40mm x 40mm steel box section and offer identical strength. The difference is purely aesthetic and how the weight is distributed:
Square Legs
Straight vertical legs with horizontal crossbars
Clean, minimalist industrial look
Most compact footprint
Best for: Modern industrial spaces, offices, and narrow tables
Trapezium Legs
Legs angle outward from top to bottom
Maximum stability for large or uneven surfaces
Wider base prevents tipping
Best for: Family dining tables, outdoor tables, and high-traffic areas
A-Frame Legs
Classic A-shaped frame with angled legs meeting at the top
Traditional workshop/farmhouse aesthetic
Excellent lateral stability
Best for: Rustic-industrial dining tables, farmhouse kitchens, and benches
V-Frame Legs
Inverted V-shape with legs angling inward from the base
Contemporary industrial style
Sleek, modern appearance
Best for: Modern dining rooms, offices, and statement pieces
X-Frame Legs
Bold X-shaped crossbars on each leg frame
Maximum visual impact and design statement
Even weight distribution across the frame
Best for: Feature tables, showrooms, and spaces where the table is a focal point
All styles are available in 2 heights (40cm for coffee tables, 71cm for dining tables) and come as a set of 2 leg frames (one for each end of your table). Choose based on your aesthetic preference and how much visual presence you want the legs to have.
