New Standard Scaffold Boards – 225mm x 38mm

Brand new, clean scaffold boards perfect for shelving, furniture, outdoor projects and general DIY.
Key specs:
  • 225mm wide x 38mm thick (standard scaffold size)
  • Brand new timber – no site wear, paint or metalwork
  • Naturally dried to 12–15% moisture
  • Available in Unsanded, Sanded and Special finishes
Best for: Shelving, workbenches, garden furniture, outdoor builds and budget-friendly projects where some natural timber movement is acceptable.
Need extra stability? Our Kiln Dried Standard Boards (8–12% moisture) are better for indoor furniture, worktops and high-end joinery.
Not sure which finish? Order a Standard Board Sample or email hello@thescaffshop.com for advice.

Quick Finish Guide

  • UNSANDED – Raw from the mill, ideal if you're doing your own sanding. Most affordable.
  • SANDED – Smooth and ready for oil/wax. Perfect for shelves, desks and visible projects.
  • SPECIAL – Flame-torched or coloured finishes for a statement look.

New Scaffold Boards - Standard - 225mm width — FAQ's

Lower moisture = more stability.
Use these for: Shelving, workbenches, outdoor projects.

Use kiln dried for: Indoor furniture, worktops, high-end joinery.

Because they're new & not kiln dried, these boards are especially suited to:
Shelving and alcove units (where some natural movement is acceptable)
Workbenches, garden furniture and outdoor projects
Sheds, workshops and utility spaces
General construction and DIY builds
Cladding and panelling (with suitable finishing)
Budget‑friendly furniture projects where you're happy to work with natural timber movement
They're still much cleaner and more consistent than reclaimed boards, but at a lower price point than kiln dried.

Yes – these boards are ideal for outdoor use.
Because they're new and clean, they're perfect for:
Garden furniture, benches and planters
Sheds, workshops and outdoor storage
Decking, cladding and fencing (with suitable treatment)
Always use a suitable exterior wood treatment (oil, stain or paint) and re‑treat periodically. All softwood will weather, move and change colour outdoors over time.

We hand‑select boards that are:
Straight and true enough for furniture and shelving use
Within normal tolerances for width and thickness for scaffold timber (approx. 225mm x 38mm)
As with any natural wood product, there can be slight variation in colour, grain and minor knots, but these boards are much more uniform and predictable than reclaimed options.
Because they're not kiln dried, they may move slightly as they acclimatise – this is normal for natural timber.
Please leave a note to seller explaining what you are using them for and we will help pick the best boards for your project.

For most projects we recommend:
Light sanding (if you've chosen unsanded or want an extra‑smooth finish)
Applying a good quality oil, wax or varnish suitable for your use (e.g. exterior oil for outdoor projects, worktop oil for kitchen surfaces) We can obviously do this for you with our ranges of finishes.
Wiping up spills promptly and avoiding standing water
Re‑oiling or re‑waxing periodically, depending on wear and the product used
This will help protect the timber, bring out the grain and keep your boards looking great for years.
If you're unsure which finish to use, just email us at hello@thescaffshop.com and we'll point you in the right direction.
