Now Offering Pallet Wood in Sanded and Special Options!

Now Offering Pallet Wood in Sanded and Special Options!

Our range of pallet wood just got even better....

Last week we introduced a new range - our new and reclaimed pallet wood. At that point we were only offering both the new and reclaimed options as "unfinished", i.e. not sanded, oiled, or given any of our other special treatments.

We're pleased to be able to advise that we can offer the same great wood, but now in a whole variety of options. Just click here to see our full range!

Sanding

We're offering the pallet wood with two different sanding options - hand sanded or machine sanded. Hand sanded is a less intense sand, where the board faces and edges will all have been smoothed off, whereas the machine sand takes the sanding process that bit further and the boards are made more regular by running them through a drum sander before then hand sanding them. Both have their use, but we tend to find that the hand sanded boards are the best for a wide range of smaller projects, such as shabby chic furniture or shelves, whereas the machine sanded finish suits larger projects such as cladding. If you're not sure which is best for you, then just get in touch on hello@thescaffshop.com and we'll be happy to discuss your project with you.

With the above sanded options we also give you our standard range of oil finishes too, so that you can choose either no oil, a classic "natural" danish oil, a rustic "antique" oil, or a warm and deep "jacobean oak" danish oil.

Finally, the most exciting finishes are our "specials". Here we scorch the wood to expose the grain and bring out the wonderful character of the boards. We can either lightly "flame" the wood, so that the grain is gently burned, or we can fully char it using the Shou Sugi Ban method from Japan, where the wood is torched and then scraped back. We can then even take this one step further and apply a coloured dye to the wood to turn a simple piece of timber in to a work of art.

Samples

If you're unsure on a particular finish, or perhaps want to compare two or three different options, then the best way to get a sample is to order just 1ft. If you view any of the pallet wood options you'll see that sizes start at 1ft.

Great for makers, tradespeople and furniture makers

As with our scaffold boards, we welcome all enquiries from DIYers, makers, tradespeople, Etys sellers and furniture makers. We can supply regular orders and can meet custom requirements to keep you stocked up week to week. If there is perhaps a finish that we don't show on our website, please do get in touch and ask, we'd love to look in to if for you. All you need to do is pop us an email on hello@thescaffshop.com to discuss your requirements with us, and we'll be happy to help.
